Hey I’m Brittany!

Today I want to share a bit more about me and my journey into Brand Photography.

-How did you get into brand photography

I originally started my career in photography as a wedding photographer. I loved the storytelling aspect of documenting someone’s special life moments in a creative way.

-Share memories of your first Brand Photoshoot
Around the same time, I also had friends who wanted to start their own wedding hair and makeup business, and so they asked me if I could take photos of them and their work for their portfolio. We would design entire days coordinating models, makeup, hair, and photos.

I didn’t know at the time that I was planning a brand Photoshoot for my friend's business!

-What’s your favourite part about what you do

My favourite part of being a brand photographer is

A. Saying goodbye to working weddings on the weekend

B. Long editing timeframes, culling thousands of wedding photos, and

C. Meeting all kinds of hardworking business entrepreneurs!

I love learning about a business and then conceptualizing a shot list that tells the brand's story to its consumers.

-What’s a favourite moment on set or photoshoot day

Something I love on set is when a business owner does all their homework from our shot list and feels confident in their skin!

-Do you have a favourite photo you have taken and why?

A favourite photo I have taken

This photo was taken in one of my favourite studios. It's a favourite location because it's so diverse for many different types of business owners. It's a blank slate with so many moveable and changeable props (which is essential for a brand shoot!)

My client was so well prepared and confident in her poses. She listened to direction well and we were able to get her a variety of images for her marketing.

I had the client do slow rocking movements so she didn't feel like she had to endlessly hold a pose. Then I told her to look over her shoulder, out the window and then back at me. This helps create a more candid lifestyle image.

I love sharing these bits about myself. Thanks for reading!!!
